Jeff Parmer Hoops would like to wish each and everyone of you all a Happy New Year and a prosperous year. We are looking foward to many great events such as the All- Star game as well as the goal of another championship from Hamamatsu Phoenix. A message from Jeff Parmer:

Rise and grind as another year is amongst us.  2010 was a pretty good year for me and my new team , but I see much more blessings and great achievements down the road in 2011. I ask that you guys continue to show your support as me and my team move forward in our quest to win yet another championship in the BJ League. As I said before, anything is possible so 2011 is OUR year!!!

Game Stats and Recap (21-22): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Shiga Lakestars

Hamamatsu Phoenix is back on track and ready to build their winning record again. This weekend Hamamatsu Phoenix played the Shiga Lakestars the number one team in the Western conference.

Parmer reports:

During Game 1, Going into this game coach message to us as a team was to go out and treat this game as a playoff game. We did just that. The 1st and 2nd quarters were no contest. When the halftime buzzer sounded the lead was a whopping 26 points. Our coach stressed to us that the game was far from over because in recent games 3rd quarters proved to be a weak point for us. Another terrible 3rd quarter came back to bite
us, where as Shiga cut into our lead and were only down by 15 points at the start of the 4th quarter. The final quarter proved to be ours from beginning to end. We came out victorious on Christmas day with a convincing 24 point win against the #1 ranked team in the Western Conference.

During Game 2, We knew from the start of the game that Shiga wouldn't come out and play the same way they did on Christmas day. In the 1st and 2nd quarters, the lead seesawed back in forth. I say they had most of the momentum going into halftime even though we held a 2 point lead. I just felt like we weren't playing our type of basketball and were playing at Shiga's pace. The 3rd quarter was played pretty even. They went on
a run but we came back with a run of our own to close out the quarter. In the final period, it was just plain and simple we knocked down shots and got key defensive stops. Plenty of motivation came from coach constantly reminding us that closing out the year and bringing in the New Year with a  victory would be big for us as a confidence builder. At the halfway mark of the season we're headed in the right direction with a
record of 20-2.

Game Stats and Recap (19-20): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Fukuoka Rizing

This weekend Hamamatsu Phoenix forfeited their 15 game winning streak by 5 points against Fukuoka Rizing that is ranked fourth in the Western conference. Nevertheless, Hamamatsu Phoenix always proves to excel with a valiant effort to win a game especially after a defeat. Asia-basket mentions Jeff Parmer for having a great performance in game 2, and contributing to the win by recording a double-double 16pts, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists. Hamamatsu Phoenix is looking forward to this weekend and reclaiming their winning streak.

Parmer reports:

During Game 1: Playing a tough opponent from the Western Conference with the #1 scorer in the league (Michael Parker) already had the making of a challenging weekend. We did a great job for the most part in making Parker work for all his points and kept him well below his 30 point average a game. It was the other American guard who proved to be a bit too much for us in the end. Nile Murry's 31 point effort and a collective effort from their two center players proved to be back breakers. It was a hard lose to swallow knowing the small
mistakes we made at critical moments in the game, especially for me. I had a rare unproductive night because of foul trouble and that hurt the most. The lose broke a 15 game winning streak we had going for 2 months. Sunday is a chance to start another streak and take it one game at a time.

During Game 2: Sunday was a new day and a new attitude. Coach obviously wasn't happy with the way things turned out on Saturday and knew he had to tweak a few things to get us back on track. On one hand it was just one lose but on the other hand it was the way we lost. We maintained the lead throughout the 1st and 2nd quarter. The 3rd quarter was when Fukuoka made their run and carried that momentum going into the final quarter. We maintained our composure and made some big buckets and got critical defensive stops at important times of the game which carried us to another victory. We aren't used to losing so we knew it was a must win and we completed our mission.

Jeff Parmer Picked to Play In the 2010-2011 Bj-League All-Star Game

Congratulations to Jeff Parmer for being picked to play in the 2010-2011 bj league All-Star Game in Osaka on January 23, 2011. Jeff Parmer will be representing for the Eastern Conference.

This is quite an exciting moment watching Jeff Parmer rise to the top as he is in his third year of professional basketball. Every year he has been excelling from team to team and his averages are increasing across the board. As many fans and supporters have mentioned, it is only a matter of time before we see Parmer's talent rise. It boils down to being on the right team with the right coaches. Watching Parmer play for Hamamatsu Phoenix has brought out the best of his capabilites as a basketball player. His talent is peaking right now. Parmer speaks highly of his coaches and teammates and is thankful for the position he is in. Collectively, they get the job done; they win. Parmer expresses his extreme gratitude to the coaches and teammates for making him feel at home while adjusting to a new culture, and having the opportunity to work with a team that pushes him to work harder every time he is on the court.

Game Stats and Recap (17-18): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Akita Happinets

If there was one word to describe Hamamatsu Phoenix as a team it would have to be determination. Phoenix is very knowledgeable of their strengths and weaknesses on the court, and they know how to correct errors they have made to gain a win. Every game they play they are reminded that the championship is within reach and they play in that fashion. This team is determined to win and the entire Phoenix team works together to strategize to execute the efforts needed to win.

Parmer reports:

During Game 1, at the start of the game we could not throw the basketball in the ocean if we wanted. I don't know what it was but we could not hit any shots. It felt like the Sendai game all over again. We found ourselves down at the end of the 1st quarter by 13 points. Before the 1st half ended we cut the lead down and made it manageable for us to make a serious run to get back into the game in the 2nd half. In the 2nd half it seemed as if the ball just bounced our way every time. Thus, the reason we were able to get back into the game and give ourselves a chance to come out with the win. A charge taken at the end of the game by Masahiro Ohguchi and Jermaine Dixon's tough layup were two key plays made down the stretch that sealed the win for us.

During Game 2, this game seemed to have our name written all over it. We came out with a much needed energized effort in the 1st half pushing us to a 12 point lead after 2 quarters. Akita came out in the 3rd quarter with a different mindset. We obviously were not ready for the punch they gave us and found ourselves tied at the end of the 3rd quarter. We made a big run in the 4th quarter and never looked back. We made play after play and free throw after free throw to come out with a 12 point victory.

Saturday and Sunday: Hamamatsu Phoenix (14-1)  will be playing against Akita (6-10) at home. Phoenix is working hard to keep the wining streak alive. Every player on the team is looking forward to another championship this season. Their hard work and practices are paying off. The players on the team are staying focused solely on this season and their talent.

Game Stats and Recap (15-16): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Saitma Broncos

Phoenix has done it again! Coming out with another victory against Saitma Broncos, Phoenix was determined to uphold their rank in the leauge. As we witnessed in the last match up between these two teams just weeks prior, Phoenix has struggled in their first game against the Brocos; however, as we see in common trend, Phoenix never lets up and fights all the way through for a weekend win. Phoenix is still standing firm on the championship, with a record no team is close to.

During (Game 1) Parmer reported, coach stressed through the whole week of practice that he was concerned about what kind of effort we would come out with knowing that we already had beaten this team twice a couple weeks ago. He had great reason to think that, and we came out and proved him right and did not play to the best of our abilities. The way they played you wouldn't have known that they were the last place team in our conference. They out rebounded us and played an overall better game than we did on this night. It still was not enough, as we came out with a tough victory on a last second block shot from Wayne
Arnold that sealed the deal.

During (Game 2) Parmer reported, we knew as a team that it was paramount that we come out with a much better effort than we showed the night before. We totally did that at the start of the game. We jumped out to a 10 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. That really helped with our confidence throughout the game. Saitama made there runs in the 3rd and 4th quarter. At the end of the game it came down to a free throw shooting contest. We hit enough shots and played just enough defense to come out on top yet again in a hard fought game. I will give credit where credit is due, and Saitama played a good 2 games against us this week. My hat goes off to their players, coaches, and fans.

Last time these two teams played, it was an exciting game for Phoenix. Every player had a chance to play; the fans were excited. Stay tuned as these two teams play this weekend.

Game Stats and Recap (13-14): Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix vs. Sendai 89ers

Phoenix's dream team is continuing their winning streak. Phoenix is now 13-1 and still holding down the number one spot in the BJ league. Sunday's game was packed with fans cheering for Phoenix, and anxiously waiting for the buzzer to sound and claim yet another weekend win. 


During (Game 1), Parmer reported, Sendai was the #2 ranked team in our conference behind us. They proved worthy of their ranking in the 1st quarter; they really out played us. Being down by 17 points at the end of the 1st quarter, and by 5 at the half, we knew we would have to come out with a better effort on the offensive and defensive end of the court. We did what we needed to do by limiting them to one shot on defensive end and being patient and playing as a whole on the offensive end which propelled us to a hard victory. The lesson was well learned. We needed a game like this. Many of our recent victories have not been close games at all. We now know as a team when things get tough and things are not going our way, we can overcome them no matter what.

During (Game 2), the lesson was well learned against Sendai on Saturday night. We came out with a different mentality than what we had in the 1st game. We played like there was no tomorrow which was very much needed being that Sendai gave us there best punch especially in the 3rd quarter when we built a lead by as much as 18. They cut that lead down pretty quick. From the end of the 3rd quarter and most of the 4th it was a great battle. Neither team wanted to lose but our fight proved to be much greater than the fight inside of them. I guess we showed the heart of a champion and we road that on to a close 5 point win!

Happy Thanksgiving From Japan!

Wishing my family, friends, and fans a Happy Thanksgiving from Toyokawa, Japan. My "Japanese" Thanksgiving dinner consisted of some bangin' fried chicken, mash potatoes with cheese, and string beans...oh yea, and a BIG cup of orange Kool-Aid. LMAO.

Game Stats and Recap (11-12): Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix vs. Kyoto Hannaryz

Phoenix Has Done It Again! Coming out of the weekend with two wins against Kyoto Hannaryz. Phoenix's record is now 11-1. Keeping a focused mind on the goal of another championship that is within reach. After speaking with Jeff Pamer, he stated during the first game (Game 11) against Kyoto Hannaryz:

"We knew that this game would be another challenge in this young season. We came out in the 1st half and played with great team chemistry and team defense which helped us to a double digit lead at the half. In the second half, Kyoto came out with a never say die attitude. Being that they had a huge rebounding advantage, they used that as fuel to cut into the large lead that we held. In the 4th quarter they trimmed the lead down to as many as nine points. But in the end, we held our own and defended and rebounded when we needed to in the key moments of the game."

One thing is for sure about about Phoenix, glory is not a simple win. This team knows what they are capable of and are aware of the talent that each player brings to the court. Satisfaction is when each player has brought their "A" game  to the court and have played to the best potential. If ever there is a time that Phoenix has struggled during their first game of the week, they return for game 2 with a vengeance. During (Game 12), Parmer stated, " Our mentality in this game was to come out and play much better than we did the night before. I think we did a great job of doing so seeing as we lead at the half by 21 points and ended up winning by 25 points. Coach was very proud of how we maintained what we accomplished in the 1st half and we seemed to never let up in the 2nd half. We know that we cannot be content on whatever kind of lead we have going into the the 3rd quarter because in this game of basketball anything can happen. It just depends on which way the ball bounces.

After hard practices this team is ready to take on Kyoto Hannaryz and once again prove that the taste victory is well deserved. Let's go red and white!

Game Stats and Recap (9-10): Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix vs. Saitama Broncos

Phoenix is proving that the road to success is a formula of teamwork and dedication. Phoenix played the Broncos this past weekend (Game 9) at home with two consecutive wins. This puts Phoenix at the top of the charts holding down the number one spot in the BJ league. This team is definitely working hard to prove that Phoenix is the best team in East as well as the entire league.


In Saturday's match-up, the 1st half proved to be our half. We played well in all aspects of the game that helped us to a 14 point lead. The 2nd half was a different story. We came out and played very flat. We had too many defensive breakdowns. Many breakdowns that lead to Saitama getting open 3-point shots and us giving up numerous dribble penetrations and easy lay-ups. If it wasn't for what we did as a team in the 1st half, the game would have been a lot closer than what it was. All in all we came out with another victory. 

From beginning to end this was a great game for us. It was fun to play and to watch as well. As coach always preaches to us we played Phoenix basketball. Our defense and rebounding was the main key. We had a huge advantage on the boards being that a lot of times Saitama was forced to play with smaller players on the court to try and speed up the pace of the game so they could cut into the lead. It didn't seem to work for them. From the 1st man to the 12th man on our team, everyone got playing time which was fun to see. The crowd enjoyed watching the players who usually do not get many minutes on our team play, and play well might I add. Coach was very pleased with the effort in which we put forth on the court for the entire game. It was a great win!!! GO PHOENIX!!!

Game stats and recap (7-8): Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix vs. Niigata Albirex

This past weekend the team came out with back to back wins against Niigata Albirex. After Game 7, it was evident that we need to keep our game face on every minute of the game, no matter how much of an advantage we have as a team. Parmer reported, "Overall as a team we did not play to the best of our ability during the entire 40 minutes of the game. In the first half we played like a team that is in 1st place in the Eastern Conference. The second half, we played as if the game was already over. In the end, we squeezed out the victory off of a last dunk made by Ray Nixon. At the end of the day a win is win, whether it be an ugly or pretty win."

Game 8 proved that a win does not have full satisfaction until it is fulfilled with the taste of glory and hard work. Sunday night, Phoenix came out and played hungry ready to claim a win that proves they are worthy of another championship. Parmer reported, "We were not content with the win we had the previous night. Therefore, coming out and playing the way we are capable was a must. We stayed with the game plan every second we were on the court. Overall, it was a very good win against a good team."

Welcome to Jeff Parmer Hoops!!!

Hey fans and family! Welcome to the newest spot where you can keep up with me play-by-play and where I may be around the world. Currently I am in Toyokawa, Japan playing for Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix, a team that won the championship last season. I am really looking forward to achieving many goals this season with this talented team. We are on our way to claiming a consecutive championship and looking forward to holding up the championship trophy in honor of teamwork and hard work in May 2011. We are currently 5-1 and ready to get these two wins this weekend!

We play our games every Saturday and Sunday. After every game I will post the the scores and my stats of the game. You can click on the "Game schedule" tab to check out who we are about to play and past scores. When it is available I will post the link that you can watch the scoreboard live from your computer. I will also leave you with a personal message about what I learned through that game experience.

Teamwork, hard work, and support is the perfect formula for a successful season. Keep me and my team in your prayers as we fight to claim a victory every weekend.
