Game Stats and Recap (31-32): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Oita Heat Devils

Parmer reports after game 1:

From the beginning of the game our effort as a team wasn't there at all. Oita was consistent with there effort from beginning to end and it showed throughout the game. The 1st quarter was where Oita took control of the game with a 4 point lead. We started off sluggish in the second quarter just as we did in the 1st. We ended the quarter off very strong thanks to a 12 point quarter on my end and a great second quarter by Jermaine Dixon. Going into halftime with a 5 point lead we knew we couldn't let up because 3rd quarters have been back breakers for us. This 3rd quarter proved to be that, a back breaker. We got outscored 32-20. We were totally out of sink. Giving much credit to Oita, they hit shot after shot in the quarter and played great defense. In the 4th quarter we made our much needed run at the end and took a 1 point lead with an offensive rebound and layup by Dzaflo Larkai. With only 5.6 seconds Oita inbounded the ball and canned a desperation 3 pointer to win at the buzzer. As I watched the ball go through the net I still couldn't believe we just lost our second game in a row.

Game 31: Hamamatsu Phoenix 86-88 Oita Heat Devils
Parmer Stats: 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assist

Parmer reports after game 2:

A great defensive effort was much needed if we wanted to come out
with a win against a hungry Oita team. Knowing how great of a defensive
team they are, and how great defensively we are, this would be a grind
it out type of game. A very low scoring 1st quarter was just the beginning
of a defensive battle between us. We took control of the game with solid
play from Ray Nixon and Jermaine Dixon. Great defense was also the
reason we took a 9 point lead into the half. Coming off a horrible 3rd
quarter from the previous game, Sunday's 3rd quarter couldn't get any
worse. A 23 point quarter helped our confidence a lot going into the 4th
quarter with a 8 point lead. Oita made a couple runs here and there but
we never relinquished the lead in the 4th quarter. When we needed
defensive stops at critical moments in the game we we're up for the
challenge. In the final moments of the game it became a free throw battle.
We converted from the line and came out with a hard fought victory.

Game 32: Hamamatsu Phoenix 72-67 Oita Heat Devils
Parmer Stats: 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal

Game Stats and Recap (29-30): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Niigata Albirex

Parmer reports after game 1:

Playing an eastern conference foe is always a big challenge to begin with because the fight for the top four spots in the playoffs plays a big part in the quest for a championship. We played Niigata earlier in the season and came out 2-0 on that weekend. In both games they pretty much gave us a run for our money. Coming in to this weekend we basically expected the same kind of effort from them and we got it. They had a big crowd on hand to support them; you could feel the energy in the building. In the 1st half they came out with their best punches and really kept us from playing Phoenix style of basketball. In the 3rd quarter we came out with a totally different attitude which was fueled by our coach's dissatisfaction with our effort in the 1st half. Another run by us in the 4th quarter was started by the efforts of Wayne Arnold and Jermaine Dixon. Niigata's final run at the end of the 4th quarter was the reason overtime would have to settle the score. In overtime, we were down by as many as 6 points but fought back like there was no tomorrow and pulled out the miraculous victory in a jam packed gym against a very hungry team.

Game 29: Hamamatsu Phoenix 84-81 Niigata Albirex
Parmer Stats: 11 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal

Parmer reports after game 2:

We squeezed out Saturday's victory by the skin on our teeth. It was crucial that we come out with a sense of
urgency because we knew Niigata would be licking there chops for a victory on Sunday. They knew just as we knew that we didn't play our best game and almost came back to haunt us. The game would go back and forth with many lead changes. We took a 1 point lead after the 1st quarter but they played a well balanced game in the 2nd frame and take a 4 point lead into the half. With us not playing well at all, especially myself in the 1st half a 4 point deficit was as good as it could get for us. The only bright spot in the 1st half was Jermaine Dixon's solid play. Myself, Dzaflo Larkai also known as our man in the middle and Wayne Arnold kept us afloat in the 3rd quarter with numerous buckets. This set the stage for an interesting and exciting 4th quarter. A quarter that was seemingly ours to be had we didn't execute on the defensive end giving up too many easy scoring opportunities to Niigata. This claimed to be the nail in the coffin and defeat was handed to us. Which is something we haven't experienced since mid December when we were defeated by Fukuoka. This week it's back to the drawing board and on to our next opponent.

Game 30: Hamamatsu Phoenix 80-83 Niigata Albirex
Parmer Stats: 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal

Game Stats and Recap (27-28): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Shimane Susanoo Magic

                   WE ARE PHOENIX!

Parmer reports after game 1:

As a team we came into this game thinking about defense as our anchor. Coach preached better defense in the many practices leading up to this game against Shimane. He knew they were a talented team even though there record didn't show it. They came out at the start of the game and played very aggressive defense. I say hands down the best defense we've seen so far from any opponent in this years BJ League. We fell behind quickly in the 1st quarter by as many as 13 points. We battled back in the 2nd frame to take a 1 point league into halftime. In the 2nd half the game proved to be a game of runs, which is usually the case in many close basketball games. The game went into overtime and our experience as a team that has fought in many battles this year and came out on top proved to seal the deal, we were yet again victorious.

Game 27: Hamamatsu Phoenix 92-82 Shimane Susanoo Magic
Parmer Stats: 20 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals

Parmer reports after game 2:

From the beginning of the game I knew this was going to be a low scoring defensive battle type of game. It showed from the start with many miscues on offensive whether it was via turnovers or smothering defense that caused many miss shots or missed opportunities. At halftime we had dug ourselves a 4 point hole which in turn prompted our coach to chew off our heads at halftime about not running the offense like we're accustomed to doing.  He stressed that we did not play as a team in the 1st two quarters, and if we wanted to win we needed to play Phoenix basketball.
We came out in the 3rd quarter and made a consistent effort in doing what we needed to get our swagger back and play like we knew we were capable of playing. We built a 13 point lead in the 4th quarter. Shimane didn't seem to give up and made a couple of runs to cut into the lead but we made our free throws and sealed the victory in the end.

Game 28: Hamamatsu Phoenix 67-60 Shimane Susanoo Magic
Parmer Stats: 14 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist
