Game Stats and Recap (31-32): Hamamatsu Phoenix vs. Oita Heat Devils

Parmer reports after game 1:

From the beginning of the game our effort as a team wasn't there at all. Oita was consistent with there effort from beginning to end and it showed throughout the game. The 1st quarter was where Oita took control of the game with a 4 point lead. We started off sluggish in the second quarter just as we did in the 1st. We ended the quarter off very strong thanks to a 12 point quarter on my end and a great second quarter by Jermaine Dixon. Going into halftime with a 5 point lead we knew we couldn't let up because 3rd quarters have been back breakers for us. This 3rd quarter proved to be that, a back breaker. We got outscored 32-20. We were totally out of sink. Giving much credit to Oita, they hit shot after shot in the quarter and played great defense. In the 4th quarter we made our much needed run at the end and took a 1 point lead with an offensive rebound and layup by Dzaflo Larkai. With only 5.6 seconds Oita inbounded the ball and canned a desperation 3 pointer to win at the buzzer. As I watched the ball go through the net I still couldn't believe we just lost our second game in a row.

Game 31: Hamamatsu Phoenix 86-88 Oita Heat Devils
Parmer Stats: 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assist

Parmer reports after game 2:

A great defensive effort was much needed if we wanted to come out
with a win against a hungry Oita team. Knowing how great of a defensive
team they are, and how great defensively we are, this would be a grind
it out type of game. A very low scoring 1st quarter was just the beginning
of a defensive battle between us. We took control of the game with solid
play from Ray Nixon and Jermaine Dixon. Great defense was also the
reason we took a 9 point lead into the half. Coming off a horrible 3rd
quarter from the previous game, Sunday's 3rd quarter couldn't get any
worse. A 23 point quarter helped our confidence a lot going into the 4th
quarter with a 8 point lead. Oita made a couple runs here and there but
we never relinquished the lead in the 4th quarter. When we needed
defensive stops at critical moments in the game we we're up for the
challenge. In the final moments of the game it became a free throw battle.
We converted from the line and came out with a hard fought victory.

Game 32: Hamamatsu Phoenix 72-67 Oita Heat Devils
Parmer Stats: 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal

GO PHOENIX!!!
